So, I would be revealing my true name and identity very soon in the near future, when I launch my YouTube and Tiktok versions, hopefully that happens real soon, with the support of you guys of course, for now I am just doing this to champion my secret tip, which I will share with you at the end of this podcast today, and it also will be mentioned multiple times throughout this episode so do keep your attentions high. Today is the first ever episode of this show and the first ever podcast I'm ever making in my life. So please excuse any errors and this long intro. I promise only this episode will have a long intro as an introductory episode for myself as well. Anything that I say wrongly or it gets accidentally misinterpreted, I am open for feedback and I do apologise in advance, as this channel is not to hurt or targeted at anyone or anything specifically, it's only meant to help each other.
So yes, there might be some or many of you who are in a similar state or feeling a bit stagnant either in your career, relationships, health or just life in general. Take this channel to be a guide for your journey towards your future goals, where I will be sharing my first hand journey embarking onto a new path.
Before that just another title disclaimer, this is not a medical advisory channel, nor am I a DOCTOR. Anxious Patience simply means to remain calm and neutral in anxious and fearful situations. It's that space when you know you have done your best and you're waiting for the results. Like for exams. Haha. But yeah a part of me did want it to sound like anxious patients too. Helps both scenarios in this case. haha. Anywho, jokes aside, why should you listen to me when I am not a professional scientist or philosopher? Well I’m not that yet, but for now all I can say is I am an educator by profession and an engineering graduate. But most of all, I am a pure seeker. I seek knowledge, truth and experience. I feel that is what life is about. And my experience of seeking is what this channel is all about. I am just sharing what I find. I hope this channel helps you one way or another.
Don't worry, I'm not gonna go too deep into anything today guys. Do leave a comment to say if this was light or heavy info for you. I'll try my best to keep it light and easy to digest.
Now without further ado, Let's go straight into our first episode, the 11 tips that helped me shift my mindset to confidently start creating and posting content and why I chose to do so. Aight guys. Le's go and Le's get it!
First let me explain why I even chose to create content. Back when I was graduating uni, the ambitious me came across Gary Vee and his lessons. In one of which he mentioned, especially when TikTok was launched, that content is King. He said that content, especially video content, was going to take over the world. I was quite insecure at the time to make any sorta content and didn't know where to start either. Fast forward 10 years, look where we are now. I don't think I need to explain how much videos and content we consume in a day now do I? And to date I've not published a single digital content. But yes, since 10 years ago I've always looked up at content creators and adored their lifestyle and influence through some engaging content. Now finally I am at a point in life, where I am motivated enough to start somewhere myself. What took me so long is what shaped the content for this first podcast episode and the title itself. Again, these are all my views and what helped me. They are not arranged in any particular order. I feel they all carry equal weight. It may not be the best practice everywhere or apply to everyone exactly the same way, but hope they help you nevertheless. Les'go Les'geddit. Or Let's OG! As the spanian says it. Shout out to the Spanian, an authentic YouTuber and Rapper.
So now, time for the first tip,
1) Something I still struggle with a bit to date and still need to improve. Kiss. Not kissing, but Keeping It Simple at Start - my version is not stupid, but start. You don't need all the best equipment and knowledge before you start doing a new hobby or skill. Just like posting new content. It's not like you need to impress 500M subscribers yet. Lol. Get over yourself and just start posting. For months I just bought a lot of lighting equipment, tripods and fabricated a whole 3D filming box, which I still have not made use of for filming but guess what it came in handy for now, I have converted it into my recording sound proof table top box. Other than that, I am still bound to film some food and cooking content as I have a home-based F&b business too. So yeah that was just the process that led me here now. So Kiss it! You're welcome.
2) Tip number two! Don't care about others’ opinions too much. Coz they are only what, an average max of around 800 people? That ain't getting you the money or the millions of followers that you need. It's the rest of the general world and public's views that matters, and your own ofc. Which takes us to hate comments and trolls under the same tip. If you're in front of the masses, be ready to be criticized because not everyone is going to agree with you. Imagine you're a referee in a football game or any other sport. Think about his/her mindset. People cuss at them etc to say the least. On the internet, someone once told me the more hate you get means the more people you have touched. Which is good right? Any publicity is good publicity. Keyboard warriors will always be there. They might even just be bots. So take the real encouragement, take the real constructive feedback for improvement, and ignore and smile at the rest. Speak to people who have walked the path successfully that you have access to. Keep working and your content is actually soon going to be world-class. Hopefully mine soon too.
3) Tip Number 3! You do understand that the first time you make anything no matter how much you theoretically prepare for it, it's still gonna be shit right? It's only practice that makes you perfect. Like the fucking good ol saying that goes Practice makes perfect. The plant only grows bigger and more beautiful in time. The seed needs to be planted and nurtured at first. That's the ugly truth. No overnight glory. Not reading and waiting and watching for the universe to serve you on a golden platter. No one is going to plant the seed and water it for you, you gotta DIY mate. It's doing that improves any craft. Bicycle analogy. Swimming analogy. Driving analogy. Cooking analogy. PB Lifting analogy. Keep practicing in your free time, or if time is all you have, then practice is the only thing you must be doing. That's Kobe's Mamba mindset! Keep perfecting your craft. In Bruce Lee's words, fear someone who practices 1 thing 1000 times. Not 1000 things 1 time.
4) Tip Number 4! Know your facts. Look good and feel good. Research and learn well so you're confident in your content. If you don't have the money or resources for the best yet it's fine, just look good or make it look good and sound confident. Firstly yourself if you are in the content. If not it's easy, you only need to polish your content. There are a lot of free tools and lessons online. When you are really hangry and ready for the next step, you will find it yourself. Just practice and practice and build the momentum as fast as you can. Trust me.
5) tip no. 5! If you're afraid of public speaking or speaking to a mic or your phone, think about it, we already normally talk and narrate on video calls. Why is this so diff? So imagine you're talking to a family or close friend who would video call you. Practice recording yourself on video alone or with a close friend. Practice speaking to the mic. Building momentum in these skills will nurture the confidence needed and you'll be ready to talk freely in no-time. Even the tone and modulation you speak in has to be natural so just imagine you're talking to your best friend who's behind the mic or camera. It might even help having them there in person or even just in picture.
6)Tip no. 6! Pullback old receipts of videos and recordings to remind yourself of you in front of a camera or mic and gain self-confidence and overrule doubt. Perhaps you have had an old dance performance or speech competition in school, pull it out and watch it again. Get motivated by yourself from the past when you got inspired on stage.
7) no. 7! Money and Momentum over Opinions and Ego or Fear or doubt. I always knew money or wealth was to do with knowledge, skills and mindset. It shouldn't be so hard to save up 100K that I need to work 8-12 hours a day for 20 years of my life. I knew there were other methods that may have a bigger value of money for time. I can also be quite lazy, hence why hehe. But yeah, I woke up one day and decided that I want to put my KSA to the ultimate use one intense time, and make decent money for a good 3-5 years. And then started asking myself what could I do to achieve this. Finally I was asking the right questions. All this while I only had a money goal in mind but not a service goal. And what I arrived at was art and content creation. Be it writing, acting, vlogging, podcasting, handicraft etc. All carry a lot of value for time. Think about that again.
8) Tip 8! Ask yourself, what are these social media platforms to you? What do you use them for? IG, FB, YT, TT, SC, DC, Apple Podcasts, Spotify etc. For me, IG and FB are becoming too commercialized and flooded with the same old content and negative news. Perhaps just use it for marketing purposes. For now, shift your mindset to Spotify, YT and TikTok as your favourites now. Why? Because the others have become less appealing? Or the others are not generating you any income but consuming a lot of time? This is just to trick yourself to see YT and TT as just personal Social Media sharing platforms of your life etc. For explicit content, that is up to your moral values. All I would say is make sure decisions now would not affect your desires and peace of mind in the future.
But yeah, this tip is mainly for millennials. For GenZ's this is second nature so Yalls don't need motivation about feeling fine to post anywhere. For me, a millennial, this is the case. The rest other than IG and FB are just purely streaming platforms for professional content creators, is what my mindset has been. So gotta shift that perception by tricking it. Unlearn, Learn and Relearn.
9) Tip no. 9! BTB. Not back to basics but beat the bots. We need to beat the bots and senseless digital polluters. Too much brain rot out there. Scammers and manipulators out there just create robots and AI to create thousands of new accounts, gain followers, and write comments on posts, all automatically to grow fake channels. So a lot of legitimacy is being compromised online. Let's flood the internet and social media with some useful and soulful content for the coming generations atleast. Good vibes only guys! Don't spread hate. If you don’t see the change, then you can try to be the change.
10) Tip no.10! If you really think about it, everyone is already lowkey tryna be a content creator on SM. Everyday they try to post some good engaging content but probably do it as food, hobby, travels or lifestyle. Mostly without their faces. Which still gets appreciated too. So what i’m sayin’ is no harm posting and publicizing your content, on any platform, as long as you're not harming or hurting anyone, including yourself. Think about it, you too would have at least posted your food on IG. Right? Just imagine you are already an expert content creator. This is where visualization techniques come in handy. This is the new norm for you.
11) Now the 11th tip but not the secret tip yet. And perhaps the most important one for you future change makers, have you been for Skydiving or cliff jumping? I’ve never done it yet because I have not really had the chance to, but if you have, then AWESOME! You have experience in, “Just Jump it and Just do it.” Or "I'm scared but I’m still just gonna do it. YOLO!" Go write the first word of the book. Go cook that meal. Go book that trip. Go resign from that job. Go start that side-business. Go record that content. Just go and do it and think after. Think about practicing to post the content to the public consistently first and then think about marketing after. After recording, edit the content to the best you can. Learn the best practices and follow your favourite creators. And THEN, JUST UPLOAD IT! Think about making it public after. Keep repeating this. Once you have gained enough confidence, make your channel public and market on your socials. I'll share how I work on growing my channel on our later episodes, so do watch this space. I'll do my best to bring on some industry experts from the region to give their 2 cents.
Alright! There it is guys. The 11 tips that helped me shift my mindset to take action confidently to create content and get over that mental barrier. This may also apply to everything else other than just creating content, if you listen to the tips again it is essentially shifting your perception and managing your expectations. Once at the right state you will take action and give yourself that freedom. Now FINALLY time for that secret tip. I actually mentioned it a few times earlier in the episode already. *Drumrolls* and the secret... PRACTICING TO BUILD MOMENTUM! Yes, that's it guys. It may not be a big unknown secret. But, momentum is the key manifestor for something new. You will believe in yourself when you are good at it. I will be elaborating more on this in our next episode, More tips on building momentum. But how you connect this is, you pick your ideal line of service, practice the tasks involved if you were just starting and then eventually as a proper hobby. See where it takes you. If you caught the secret before the end then you are tuned in line with this information.
Thank you for listening to the end guys. Do share this with your friends and loved ones if you think this would be helpful for them. Watch this space, I will be working to bring some helpful content hopefully. See you in our next episode. Stay beautiful, people! Ciao.
